Guided rides run along the open sand south of downtown, usually 30 to 60 minutes with an experienced handler leading the horse rather than a free rein. Mornings are cooler and the beach is emptier.

"Preparada" means loaded — grilled meat tacos dressed with avocado, beans and a fried strip of cheese, sold from carts all over downtown. For a sit-down meal, Oceana Grill and Cafe near the beachfront does a solid Mexican-American menu with room service if you are staying nearby.
